You Only Need One Thing To Succeed

by Bonnie Boots

People coming to me for coaching are usually suffering from one of two problems. They either have idea overwhelm---so many ideas for products and web sites and niches that they can't sort them out and get started.

Or they have idea constipation. They've filled their brain with so much advice from so many books and web sites and gurus that they've flooded their own creative engine. "I know I want to do something on the internet," they say. "I just can't sort out what."

Both types of people are spinning their wheels, failing to move forward because they're stuck in the muck of "too much."

You don't need to read a hundred books and go to a dozen seminars and read a thousand web sites to get started making your own products and marketing on the internet. You don't need dozens of ideas for books you can write. You don't need hundreds of keywords and thousands of niches you can target.

All you need to succeed at making your own products and marketing on the internet is one thing.

Just one single thing.

What is it? You'll have to work out what that "one thing" is for yourself. The important thing to focus on is that you need just ONE thing. One thing out of all the millions of choices and opportunities around you.

Examples of people who've become successful by focusing on one single thing are all around you, especially at lunchtime.

Ray Kroc started McDonald's Hamburgers in 1955 focusing on one thing. Colonel Sanders founded Kentucky Fried Chicken in 1952 focusing on one single thing. Glen Bell started Taco Bell in 1946. He focused on one thing.

What do you think would have happened to Ray Kroc if he'd looked over his shoulder at Glen Bell and said, "Damn! He's making money! I better build a couple of taco places, too."

What do you think would have happened if Colonel Sanders had said, "That Kroc guy is making easy money. I'm going to put hamburgers on my menu!"

Here's what would have happened. They would have lost their single-minded focus. They would have divided their time and attention. And they would never have achieved the level of success that allows their descendants to live in luxury today.

One thing is the key to success.

Indeed, if you're suffering from idea overwhelm and information overload, choosing one thing is the only thing that can save you.

If you want to follow some marketing guru's example, pick one and follow him or her exclusively.

If you want to write books, pick one subject and only write about topics that fall under that subject.

If you want to work with blogs, put up one blog and put all your energy into it.

Focus all your energy and attention on one thing, and you'll start experiencing the kind of success that let's you afford more than McDonald's for lunch.
